Community Leadership Studio
Community Leadership Studio is a new leadership and experiential learning organization grounded in reflection, communication, mentorship, courage, and community.
Founded by educator and leadership expert, Dr. Roxane O. Adler Hickey, the studio was created from a simple but powerful belief: leadership is not developed through lectures or performance alone, but through experience, reflection, conversation, challenge, and authentic connection over time.
After more than two decades designing transformational cohort-based leadership programs across both K–12 and higher education, Roxane began asking a different question: What would it look like to create these kinds of intentional leadership spaces earlier, particularly for girls navigating the critical middle school years?
Drawing from her professional leadership work, doctoral research on experiential learning in cohorts, and her experience as both an educator and mother, Community Leadership Studio was created to help young people build confidence, voice, courage, communication skills, self-awareness, and meaningful connection through thoughtful, high-touch leadership experiences.
The long-term vision for Community Leadership Studio includes leadership cohorts, mentorship programs, experiential learning opportunities, civic engagement experiences, retreats, and intergenerational leadership community-building rooted in reflection, challenge, courage, and authentic human connection. Because leadership is not built in a single workshop. It is practiced over time through reflection, experience, mentorship, challenge, and community.

Why Middle School?
The middle school years are incredibly formative.
They shape how girls see themselves, use their voice, build relationships, navigate challenges, and understand their place in the world.
At a time when many girls begin questioning their confidence and identity, Community Leadership Studio was created to provide something different: a thoughtful, supportive space where girls can reflect, connect, challenge themselves, build courage, and practice leadership in authentic community.
Because the tools girls build during these years often stay with them for the rest of their lives.
